Khesinari Argon'atsu
Mosteera I
Khesinari Argon'atsu, born Khesinari of the Le'keshna Tribe, was a princess long before she became a queen. The Le'keshna were a proud people, residing within the emerald-touched oases of the Serekh’tem desert, where the whispering reeds and sapphire springs masked their ancestral secrets. As the daughter of Chief Nema’kesh, Khesinari grew up amidst the verdant sanctuaries of her tribe, where the sands turned fertile under their arcane touch and the winds carried the soft murmur of ancient spirits.

The Le'keshna were not only masters of cultivation and hidden wells but also keepers of an esoteric art known as Nehekhara, a practice as old as the dunes themselves. Nehekhara, loosely translating to The Binding of the Eternal, was a form of necromancy unique to the Le'keshna. While necromancy in other clans was often shunned or practiced in the shadows, the Le'keshna viewed it as a sacred art—one of healing, preservation, and guidance. Through Nehekhara, skilled practitioners could commune with the dead, bind protective spirits to objects, and even animate mummified guardians to protect their people. Their rituals involved sacred oils, hieroglyphic seals, and the soft hum of ancestral songs that seemed to bring the very sands to life.

From a young age, Khesinari exhibited an innate talent for Nehekhara. She would walk the burial grounds of her ancestors, her soft chants weaving through the air, and the old bones would hum in harmony. Under the tutelage of her grandmother, the tribe’s greatest priestess, Khesinari learned to blend healing with necromancy. She could coax a wounded soldier’s spirit to remain tethered to life or call upon the wisdom of those long gone to advise the living. Her abilities made her both revered and sought after, and her beauty—radiant as the moon upon still waters—only added to her allure."- Passage from The History and Legends of Adyntia, by Sir Warth Fallow.

The Tournament of the Emerald Sands
It was during the annual Sut’raam Ahket, or The Gathering of the Worthy, that Khesinari's path crossed with Zumaridi Argon'atsu III. The Sut’raam Ahket was an ancient tradition where bachelors, known as Ha’remu—meaning The Proving Sons—would gather to demonstrate their strength, valor, and cunning in hopes of winning the favor of the tribes' most esteemed maidens. Warriors, scholars, and even mystics would travel from far and wide to the shifting amphitheater of the Emerald Sands, where the dunes themselves seemed to watch the contests with a quiet hunger.
Khesinari, as a princess of the Le'keshna, sat among the shaded seats with her father and the tribal elders. Draped in silks of deep green and gold, she wore charms of bone and turquoise, her arms and neck adorned with serpent-shaped bands. Though many suitors sought her gaze, few managed to draw her interest. She was not merely looking for strength but for a spirit that harmonized with her own—a soul with the fire of the living and the wisdom of the dead.
When Zumaridi entered the sands, the world seemed to hold its breath. His reputation preceded him—young but already a fearsome warrior, a Ha’remu whose draconic heritage set him apart. His scales, when he allowed them to show, glimmered like sunlit malachite. The tournament challenges ranged from combat to trials of intellect and mysticism, and Zumaridi excelled at each. He defeated rivals with grace, solved riddles posed by the tribal oracles, and in the final trial—one of spirit—he stood before an ancient sarcophagus and spoke with the mummified priest within, gaining its blessing.
Khesinari’s heart stirred as she watched him, for few outsiders possessed the respect and understanding to approach the spirits of the dead without fear or arrogance. When Zumaridi was crowned victor of the Sut’raam Ahket, he was granted the right to make his choice. But to everyone’s surprise, he knelt not before the elders but before Khesinari herself, offering her a crystal shard from the burial grounds—a token of eternal promise.

A Healer and a Queen
As his wife, Khesinari brought her talents and traditions to the grand halls of House Argon'atsu. Though the palace of Adyntia was a world away from the tranquil oases of her youth, she adapted quickly, creating sacred gardens and hidden chambers where she continued to practice Nehekhara. She became the royal healer, her chambers always aglow with incense and the soft murmurs of bound spirits. During times of war, Khesinari’s mummified guardians patrolled the palace grounds, their linen-wrapped forms as silent as the night itself.
Her healing was more than physical. Khesinari had the uncanny ability to soothe the souls of the wounded, to draw away nightmares, and to offer solace to those haunted by the spirits of the slain. Her reputation grew beyond Adyntia’s borders, and emissaries from distant tribes and kingdoms sought her wisdom. She became a living bridge between the world of the living and the dead, a beacon of hope in times of plague and sorrow.
As a mother, Khesinari passed on her teachings to her sons, ensuring that the ways of the Le'keshna would endure through the blood of House Argon'atsu. Her sons, each a blend of warrior and mystic, bore the markings of their mother’s tribe—tattoos of ink and bone, symbols of protection, and the quiet strength of those who understand that death is not an end but a doorway.

Legacy of the Le'keshna
Khesinari Argon'atsu’s legacy was not merely in the bloodline of her children but in the traditions she wove into the very fabric of Adyntian culture. Under her influence, the practices of Nehekhara were adopted into the royal rites, and the once-hidden art became a revered practice within the kingdom. She remained a vital force beside Zumaridi, not as a shadow, but as a partner whose influence extended from the throne room to the spirits that walked the twilight paths of Evernia.

Her name would be spoken in prayers, her visage etched into temple walls, and her story told alongside her husband’s as not only the queen who healed but also the princess who brought the wisdom of the dead to the living. And through her, the sands of time whispered with the voices of those who would never truly pass away, for Khesinari’s magic ensured that the ancestors of Adyntia would watch over their descendants for generations to come.
